The highly-awaited Season 2 of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel launches on Prime Video this week, and audience theories has been intense.
The first season introduces a large cast of personalities living within Hell and Heaven, pits them against each other accompanied by musical numbers about their clashes, and establishes tense rivalries and angsty, affectionate connections that fuel audience devotion.
The fandom's stated hopes for season 2 differ greatly, but certain themes recur frequently: Will Angel Dust break free from Valentino? Might we learn more about the mysterious "deal" affecting Alastor the Radio Demon? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Obviously, I don't make the show with audience demands as the main goal," the showrunner commented earlier this year. "However I believe that me being a devotee of the series implies there's a lot of it just inherently. I also want to see these things, and I hope some of these things to happen, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator says her long-term vision is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have received approval by the production companies, which produce the series.
That might mean viewers have to be patient for some of the major resolutions — but they may be surprised at how quickly season 2 progresses, and how much of what they're waiting for happens now.
"I believe people are going to be highly satisfied," the creator notes. "We get some firsts. I think we receive some really amazing reveals, some really cool origin tales, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience much more singing from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
She's certainly aware of the guesses and hopes about season 2 — particularly in the form of audience prediction charts.
"I've come across a few fans create a prediction grid about season 2," she mentions. "Naturally I can't post it, but I've actually done some of them, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 launches on Prime Video on October 29.
